Voonik, India’s largest and fastest growing fashion marketplace, has announced the launch of Mr Voonik, a fashion app dedicated to men’s fashion. Mr Voonik will not only offer a wide choice of men’s clothing and accessories, but will also save shopping time for men with the highly coveted personalisation services that are a rarity in this segment.
According to a report in ANI: Mr Voonik comes with a highly advanced style recommendation engine that promises to give a very relevant product selection to each consumer. Online stylists will help customers handpick the best clothes based on their body type, colour choice, budget and style preferences. With over one lakh products available on Mr Voonik already, the fashion marketplace is set to grow exponentially with plans of adding 1,000 more brands within a month of launch.
Voonik CEO and Co-Founder, Sujayath Ali, said, “When we started Voonik some three years ago, we had a clear vision of becoming the country’s largest fashion destination. With over seven million app downloads and nine million registered users, we are among the fastest growing companies in the sector. But I feel this success is incomplete as we have not reached the other half of the fashion consumers, men.”
“So here we are, launching a dedicated fashion platform for men. With the launch of Mr Voonik, we are solving a big shopping problem for men. Now they will be able to see the clothes that suit their personality and buy without worrying about the price, and without having to spend a lot of time,” added Ali.
Voonik is an online Indian stylist-handpicked apparel store, which helps users choose the right clothes for any occasion. It has a team of stylists with vast amount of experience in the fashion industry. It helps to pick the right set of clothes based on various parameters such as skin tone, body type, height, occasion etc. It has launched its app on both Android and iOS to provide the experience for users on the go.
It was founded in 2013 by Sujayath Ali and Navaneetha Krishnan. Sujayath is an ISB alumnus and has worked with Visa and Amazon. Navaneetha has been involved with startups for several years, having worked at Zoho, Aryaka and Freshdesk. Voonik is headquartered in Bangalore and is currently one of India’s fastest growing fashion shopping apps for women.
Voonik launched its mobile app in 2014 which grew to 1Million plus downloads and recently achieved a good rating of 4.2 on the Google Play Store.
Voonik raised USD 5 million in series of funding from Sequoia Capital and Seedfund. Previously they had raised a 2.5 Cr from Seedfund which lead to the growth.
In August 2015, Voonik acqui-hired TrialKart, a mobile platform that provides virtual dressing room experience to shoppers while shopping. The shift helped Voonik improve on image reading and deep learning capabilities that are core for personalisation. Voonik also, acqui-hired Getsty, a curator of personalised fashion for men. The company is now set to launch a men’s fashion app and this move helps them speed up the process and set up this new division.
