Kalyan Jewellers to foray into West Bengal

Kalyan Jewellers, the leading jewellery firm, has decided to foray into West Bengal. In May, it will be opening three standalone showrooms in Kolkata. With the objective of establishing a strong presence in Kokata, all the three showrooms will be launched on the same day.
The showrooms will open at Salt Lake, Gariahat and Camac Street. The Salt Lake showroom will be spread across 8,000 sq. feet whereas the Gariahat showroom will have 7,000 sq. feet of retail space. The Camac Street showroom of Kalyan Jewellers will be housed in the heritage building and will be spread over 10,000 sq. feet.
The showrooms will feature Kalyan’s popular Polki, gold, diamond and precious stone studded jewellery designs from across the country.
The showroom will have an exclusive section displaying Kalyan’s popular house brands such as Mudhra – handcrafted antique jewellery, Nimah – authentic heritage Jewellery, Anokhi – uncut diamonds, Apoorva – diamonds for special occasions, Antara – wedding Diamonds and Hera – daily wear diamonds and Rang – precious stones jewellery.
Kalyan Jewellers has been aggressively expanding its distribution network and is launching the three showrooms to capitalize on the growing resonance of Kolkata as an emerging retail hub and strengthen its national presence. The company is expanding its operations in the eastern part of the country and had made a foray into Bhubaneswar last year. Over the past two years, Kalyan Jewellers has nearly doubled its distribution footprint across the country and has also been expanding in West Asia.

Kalyan Jewellers is the largest jewellery chain in India. It is headquartered in Thrissur, Kerala. T.S. Kalyanaraman is the Chairman and Managing Director. Kalyan Group is the holding company of Kalyan Jewellers. It employs around 8,000 people in India. TS Kalyanaraman started the first jewellery shop in 1993, named Kalyan Jewellers in Thrissur with a capital of Rs 7.5 million. The chain has 79 showrooms across India and GCC. Global Private Equity Fund Warburg Pincus made an investment of Rs 1,200 crore in Kalyan Jewellers in October, 2014.
BRAND AMBASSADORS
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Prabhu Ganesan and Shivaraj Kumar are the brand ambassadors of the Kalyan Jewellers. Earlier, Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen was the ambassador. According to media reports, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has charged Rs 100 million per year for a two-year deal with Kalyan. The advertising and marketing budget of Kalyan is around Rs 900 million .
