PureCircle to invest $200 million in India

As Pure Circle, the Malaysia-based natural sweetner firm, has decided to foray into India, it will be investing $200 million in India over 5 years. It has already received a nod from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in December 2015.
The company’s clients in markets outside India includes Nestle, Pepsi, Coca Cola and Danone. The company plans to partner with Indian farmers for 5,000 hectares Stevia cultivation in India.
PureCircle processes Stevia leaves to form a white powder substance, used as a sweetener.
The company has already started trials in six states including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand.
