Renault to launch one model every year in India

Renault, the French car manufacturer is looking forward to launch one model in a year in India. As per them, this would cement their position in the car market in the country.

The French company, saw an ascent of 160 per cent in domestic sales at 12,424 units in FY16. Before 2017 ends, the company is targeting a 5 per cent market share in the Indian market; the same was announced earlier.

“We have already talked about launching one litre and AMT versions of the Kwid. New Duster has already been launched and going ahead, we plan to launch at least one new model each year in the country over the next few years,” CEO & MD, Renault India Country, Sumit Sawhney was quoted by PTI as saying.

“We will continue to bring new products from our global portfolio into the country. We are launching products in the country at regular intervals but we want to ensure that we introduce right products at the right time,” Sawhney was quoted by PTI as saying, when asked about the company’s future plans.

Renault recently unveiled Kwid – the small car which is doing well in the market, it further expects its ranking to go up in Indian passenger vehicle segment. Between January and March 2016, Renault sold 29,289 units, against 11,404 units last year; which equals to a rise of 157 per cent. The company is performing well in India and its shares have also risen in the global market.
