Massimo Dutti to open first store in Select Citywalk

Must Read

Delhi’s Select Citywalk mall is gearing up to introduce Spanish premium clothing brand Massimo Dutti.

Massimo Dutti is owned by Inditex’s SA, better known for its brand Zara. The Spanish brand is making an entry into the Indian market by associating with Trent, just like the way Zara was introduced in India in 2010.
Soon after the opening of its first outlet, it plans to open four-five more stores in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru by spending Rs 10 crore. The stores will be targeted at a more upscale market with higher quality fashion products for both men and women.
Zara’s success in India has set the stage for the entry of other foreign brands. The premium Spanish brand is priced a notch higher than Zara. The move shows that consumption continues unabated at the top end of the retail market.
Livemint reports: “Massimo Dutti has been trying to come to India since 2012 but its initial investment proposal was rejected by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board on account of issues around the ownership of brand. The Indian law states that the investor should also be the owner of the brand.”
Inditex globally has has more than 6,000 stores in 86 markets and owns brands like Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home, Uterqüe and also a low cost brand Lefties.
