First Indian joins 'Friend of the Sea' board

Amod Ashok Salgaonkar, a food and retail professional, has been selected as a member on the Advisory Board of “Friend of the Sea” and “Friend of the Earth” program. He is the first Indian to be selected for the prestigious position.
“Friend of the Sea” and “Friend of the Earth” are international certification programs for products from sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture and farming. Over 500 companies in more than 50 countries have relied on “Friend of the Sea” and “Friend of the Earth” to assess the sustainability of their origins. Audits, based on best and most updated available scientific data, are run by accredited independent certification bodies.
“We are happy to have Amod involved in our sustainability projects and we are sure his active engagement will strengthen our programs in Asia and worldwide,” Dr Paolo Bray, Director & Founder of Friend of the Sea/Friend of the Earth, said in an official release.
Amod has wide experience in food, retail, seafood based research in India as well as good knowledge of an international seafood market.
