Goli Vada Pav widens digital touchpoint, ties up with Swiggy, Foodpanda

After the launch of mobile app and website (GoliBadaPav.com), the QSR chain has tied up with foodservice delivery aggregators Foodpanda and Swiggy, to enable customers to order for home delivery.
The chain is available on Swiggy for the Mumbai market and will go live on Foodpanda by the coming weekend. In the next phase, the company will take this partnership to Bengaluru and Gurgaon.
"Food Panda and Swiggy have a strong home delivery infra in these cities (Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon). Thus, home delivery will be taken care of by these players. However, once we enter other cities where they may not have a home delivery model, we will engage with hyper local logistics players to ensure a smooth last mile delivery," Iyer told Indiaretailing.
Goli has already brought a hyper local partner, Opinio on board, which will start home deliveries for the above mentioned three markets by mid-December.
Launched in 2004, Goli Vada Pav currently has more than 320 outlets in 88 cities across 19 Indian states. The company aims to open 1,000 outlets across the country in the next five years.
In July this year, the company had rolled out its own mobile app. However, the focus is to rely on network and delivery capabilities of the players it has tied up with to increase footprint across the country.
"That makes complete sense as it is more cost effective way for our franchisee stores," Iyer asserts. "We can’t expect consumers to download all these apps and then Goli’s app seperately. Plus, the delivery cost of the orders might be way more than the order size as the ticket size of our product is small (one vada costs Rs 25). Thus, the idea is to increase our reach using the Internet to each and every customer in the country. Opening more physical stores will back this up. We aim to reach 1,000 stores by 2020 and we are on track to achieve this goal," he adds.
Additionally, the company has also booked a central calling number 9346544654, for placing home delivery orders. This number will go live by mid December. "It will be managed out of call centre in Bengaluru. Currently, a pilot for this is on in Bengaluru where we using a local number as of now. After Bengaluru, we will move to Gurgaon and Mumbai," Iyer says. 
QSR chains in India are increasingly forming alliances with online delivery platforms to enhance customer experience and delivery speed. Recently, CCD tied up with Swiggy for home delivery services in 50 units across Bengaluru. In November, Swiggy also announced that it had tied-up with QSR chain Burger King, to offer quick and seamless ordering experiences for customers.
