Gurgaon-headquartered Digital Food Talk Pvt Ltd, which runs an online food community, Food Talk India, has raised a seed investment of $500,000 from a private investor.
“This investment will help us launch the Food Talk Plus mobile application in a big way, by strengthening our core with an in-house tech team and creation of a comprehensive marketing plan,” Shuchir Suri, CEO and founder of Digital Food Talk Pvt Ltd, said.
Founded in 2013 by Shuchir Suri and Anjali Batra, Food Talk India was started as an invite-only Social Food Forum on Facebook. The company has captured an online audience of 400,000 followers across all social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Viber. It is an invite-only social food community, where members come together to read and share food experiences via real time recommendations and suggestions.
The seed investment has brought forward opportunities for the brand to launch their new product ‘Food Talk Plus’, a hyper-local dish discovery mobile app, it said in a statement.
Food Talk India recently signed a deal with Star World and Star World HD as the digital partner for the MasterChef Australia season 7 series in India. They will also be co-curating MasterChef Promotional event’s with Star World in key cities.
