Snapdeal, TANSIDCO to bring MSMEs online

Must Read

India’s leading online marketplace Snapdeal has joined hands with Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (TANSIDCO) to develop skills in online commerce among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Tamil Nadu.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two aims at helping MSMEs in Tamil Nadu to leverage the e-commerce opportunity and gain pan-India market access for their products, Snapdeal said in a press statement.
As per the MoU, Snapdeal and TANSIDCO will jointly provide special support for on-boarding MSMEs in their initial journey from registering to listing, by helping them to fulfil requisite documentation, process, training, etc.
In addition, Snapdeal will equip the businesses with online cataloguing, pricing, range and assortment planning, inventory management and refinement of product offerings based on consumer preferences, gathered through its data analytics tools.
“Our goal is to create life changing experiences for one million online entrepreneurs within the next three years. Through this partnership, we will assess the potential for e-commerce businesses among Tamil Nadu’s MSMEs and introduce measures to address specific bottlenecks in business development,” said a Snapdeal spokesperson.
“Our endeavour is to establish a more integrated platform for local micro and small enterprises of Tamil Nadu and help promote and sell their products to a nationwide audience,” the spokesperson added.
“Tamil Nadu has a strong entrepreneurial culture and Snapdeal’s support will be crucial in helping businesses navigate the online marketplace and widen market boundaries, optimise operations and develop competitiveness with market insights,” said Jagmohan Singh Raju, principal secretary, Ministry of MSME, Tamil Nadu.
The partnership with Snapdeal will help identify specific needs of Tamil Nadu’s MSMEs and develop skills for growth on the online platform.
As a result of this partnership, MSMEs in Tamil Nadu will get the opportunity to showcase their products and services, specially home and fashion products, cottage and handloom items to a larger customer base, said Raju.
Snapdeal also recently partnered with SIDBI, to provide necessary financial and non-financial support to help micro, small and medium- sized businesses expand their business and reach across India. (RKS)
