Mayasian kidswear retailer Poney set to enter Indian market

Malaysian kidswear brand Poney has partnered with Franchise India to expand its presence in the Indian market.
Through this partnership, Poney has signed a master franchise agreement with Delhi-based Ajanta International Group, a press release said.
Ajanta has aggressive plans to develop and expand the Poney brand in the country which will see the opening of multiple exclusive brand outlets and shop-in-shops across metros and tier 1 cities in the country in the first five years, according to the statement.
“We believe that kidswear is going to become the hottest fashion segment in the coming years. With the kind of price points and positioning that Poney enjoys, we can make this a scalable and popular business model in India,” said Rajat Kapoor, Ajanta International head.
Founded in 1992, Poney Group is a leading retailer in Malaysia, specialising in a wide range of comfortable and fashionable products for kids. It houses three well-known brands: Poney, Baby Poney and Poney Enfants.
American speciality retailer of children’s apparel and accessories, The Children’s Place has also announced recently that the retailer is all set to  open its first store in India in August with a debut store at the Orion Mall in Bangalore. The New Jersey-headquarted kidswear chain has partnered with Arvind Lifestyle Brands to enter the Indian market. The retailer targets to open 4-5 outlets in India this fiscal across Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
