GAP debut store in India to open in May

San Francisco-based clothing retailer Gap is reportedly set to enter the Indian market with its first store opening in Delhi in May in partnership with Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd.
Arvind Lifestyle Brands has appointed Oliver Kaye as the business head &  general manager of the division dealing with the American brand. Kaye was earlier appointed as the head of Calvin Klein India in 2008.
With 14 brands in its portfolio catering to all segments — value, premium and bridge-to-luxury — Arvind Lifestyle Brands Ltd increased its turnover to Rs 2016 crore in the calendar year 2014, while growing at 26% over the previous year. Projected to be a Rs 5000 crore business by 2018, the company recently also acquired brands like Ed Hardy, Calvin Klein, GAP and The childrens Place (TCP). The company is also planning to enter footwear retail and e-commerce over the next few months.
