Aman Spa, Amanpuri in Phuket: Traditional wonder

Must Read

Located on the west coast of Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, Amanpuri looks out over the turquoise expanse of the Andaman Sea. Spread across 27,000 sq ft The Aman Spa at Amanpuri was Amanresorts’ first full-service spa. Amanpuri was built in 1987 and became Amanresorts’ flagship property. Reflecting the style and elegance of Thai culture, the resort’s graceful pavilions and villa homes are situated in a coconut plantation on a headland overlooking the Andaman Sea. Elevated walkways connect pavilions to the resort’s private white sand beach and facilities, including the first Aman Spa.
Since its opening in 1988, the Thai beach resort of Amanpuri has established a reputation for personal service, all of which complement the natural beauty of its tropical island surroundings. Amanpuri, a Sanskrit word meaning ‘place of peace’, reflects its
name in more ways than one. The Spa features six spacious Thai-style pavilions, each
offering an open, light-filled space of wood and glass with private steam room, shower, bath, dressing area and an outdoor meditation sala. There is also a sauna, granite steam room and fountain terrace where health drinks are served.
“Our guests enjoy experiencing that which is intrinsic to a particular destination, such as a country’s culture and traditions. This includes making use of beneficial health practices and natural remedies that have been passed down through the centuries in that culture. Our spa menus reflect this with a selection of treatments making use of local therapeutic techniques and remedies. Aman Spa also features essential oils derived from wild and organically-grown plants and herbs,” says Greg Payne, Director, Spa Operations,
Amanresorts.
