Mizoram mulls tax on goods bought online

Must Read

The Mizoram Government is considering imposing an entry tax on goods purchased online.

The state Finance Minister Lalsawta said in the Assembly that the state government does not plan to restrict online shopping though it has received information that brick-and-mortal retailers in Mizoram are suffering due to it.

According to him, several shops in Millennium Center shopping mall in Aizawal were forced to close down because their business was severely hit by ecommerce.

Lalsawta said that the governments, both at the center and states, are trying to regulate ecommerce in India and tax the online trade.
