In order to safeguard the interest of the domestic textile industry and silk producing farmers from the adverse impact of cheaper imports, the Government has imposed antidumping duty on silk fabrics imported from other countries. The antidumping duty so imposed on silk fabric is in force till December 2016 with a reference price of US$ 2.05 – 7.59/meter for a fabric weight ranging from 20-100 grams/meter. The antidumping duty imposed on import of raw silk with a reference price of US$ 37.32/kg was in force till January 2014. Government through Central Silk Board has taken steps for further imposing anti-dumping duty on raw silk of 3A grade and below originating in and imported from other countries.

The information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Textiles Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
