French sports equipment and sports-wear company Decathlon has opened a store at The North Country Mall in Mohali, Punjab. Spread over 25,000 sq.ft., it also has 9,000 sq.ft. of play area. It stocks products for over 40 sports offering more than 5,000 items.
Speaking on the occasion, B. Anantharaman, MD and CEO, Gumberg India, said: “The customer is at the heart of our business model and we are delighted to bring an iconic sports brand like Decathlon into our retail offering. We believe this format and category is an apt fit for the sports friendly consumers of Punjab and Tricity region.”
Founded in 1976, Decathlon sells sports products in more than 725 stores in 20 countries and develops its own products under the flagship brand “Oxylane”.
The North Country Mall, a 2 million square feet development, is Gumberg’s first project outside US and is part of US$7 billion investment plan for India.
