Spencer’s Retail Enters MP, Opens Hypermarket in Bhopal

Multi-format food-first retailer Spencer’s Retail has forayed in Madhya Pradesh by opening its first hypermarket in Bhopal at C21 mall, Hoshangabad Road. Spread over 28,000 sq. ft. , the store  stocks categories such as food and grocery, fresh fruits and vegetables, electrical and kitchen appliances, stationery, and home and personal care products. It also offers a ranges of delicatessen, organic and diet food, and international gourmet products.

Spencer’s Patisserie – a live bakery offering a variety of freshly baked breads, cakes, rusks and cookies, etc. is a key highlight of the store. The store’s ‘Nutty Delights’ section stocks 100 variants of nuts and spices.

Speaking on the occasion, Kingshuk Basu, Executive Director – Operations, Spencer’s Retail, said: “We are happy and proud to mark our presence in Raipur with our first hyperstore in this region. Spencer’s endeavour is to offer shoppers the best in food and non-food assortment at trusted prices, deliver a superior and enjoyable shopping experience thereby creating customer delight. This is in line with its brand promise of making fine living affordable.”

He further added: “We are very happy to be a part of this city and expect to be a household name soon. By the end of this financial year, we plan to open nine hypermarkets in chosen geographies. By 2017, we hope to have 100 hypermarkets from the current count of 32.”

Spencer’s Retail, a part of the Rs 14,000 crore RP – Sanjiv Goenka group, has about 127 stores, including 32 large format stores across 30 cities in India. According to the company professionals, the retailer receives a footfall of about 3.5 million per month.
