Fashion accessories brand Lino Perros, a sub brand of Sumitsu Apparel, aims to have 50 distributors in the country by the end of the current fiscal which is likely to account for around 15 percent of its total business. Sumitsu Apparel is the manufacturer, distributor, and designer of fashion accessories in India. The company operates a few airport stores across India, but plans to consolidate its position through manufacturing and distribution channels.
Sumitsu Apparel also supplies fashion accessories to Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle International, Central, Monte Carlo, BlackBerry, Reid & Taylor, Benetton, Provogue, Urbana, John Miller, HyperCity, and Spar, under its flagship and license brands. With Lino Perros as the flagship brand, Arrow is the licensed brand of the manufacturer for which it produces ties, cufflinks, pocket squares, and scarves. It also has a value for money brand called Firenzi that offers an entire gamut of accessories. Central accounts for most of the company’s business.
Sharing details about maintaining the distinction between different retail brands, Sanjay Dua, Managing Director, Sumitsu Apparel, said: “The key differentiator between retail brands that we supply to depends on pricing, value additions, functionality, and the style quotient.”
Commenting on the latest trends in fashion accessories, Dua stated that for the current season (FW13) American classic styling and colours are a hit for men’s accessories while geometric patterns and bright colours are popular in women’s category. Currently, men’s accessories account for the larger business volume while women’s accessories contribute a higher value.
The sales ratio for the company between metros and tier 2 and 3 cities stands at 60:30:10 percent. Retail channel contributes 90 percent to Sumitsu Apparel’s sales. The company has only one manufacturing unit in Delhi which produces around 10,000 accessory pieces per day.
