Metro Cash & Carry India Felicitates Chefs at Annual Chef Awards 2013


Business-to-business wholesale format, , honoured the culinary skills of over 700 chefs across the food and beverage industry at the 10th Annual Chef Awards 2013. The award ceremony was conducted in association with Indian Culinary Forum and supported by and The World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi on November 23, 2013.

Held on the International Chefs Day, the event was graced by Minister of State for Human Resource Development . Awards were given for 17 categories to honour contributions made towards the industry across the year, where , Managing Director, Metro Cash &Carry India conferred Chef Satish Arora of Taj Hotels with “Metro Lifetime Achievement Award.”

The top 600 chefs from hotels, restaurants, bakeries, confectioneries, and catering businesses participated in the event held at the Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi in October 2013. “Modern Indian Cuisine,” was the theme of the competition.

Speaking about the awards, Bakshi said: “Chefs are the backbone of the hospitality sector, and we are extremely proud to be here to honour their culinary skills and contributions to the industry. Metro is committed to supporting exceptional culinary talent from an industry that caters to some of the most discerning palates across the country. We have been associated with a number of such platforms like Chef-O-Logy, Young Chefs’ Culinary Challenge, through which we extend our support to nurture promising culinary talent.”
