Millesime Bio Tradeshow Increasing Exhibition Area for 21st Edition in 2014


The Millesime Bio tradeshow which will be held from January 27 to 29 at the Exhibition Centre in Montpellier (France), is considered the foremost event in organic wine growing.

More than 4,000 industry professionals are expected to visit 750 exhibitors hailing from almost every wine producing country and region. The event will feature wine-tasting, opportunities for dialogue with wine producers, conferences on the organic wine market, and more.

The 2013 edition saw 689 exhibitors from 11 countries led by France, Italy and Spain. The event was visited by 4,160 trade visitors who included importers (19.8 percent), wine merchants (18 percent), wine traders (8.65 percent) and professionals from the Hospitality Industry (6.5 percent).

Organic vineyards in France grew by 6 percent.in 2012; wineries rose from 4,692 in 2011 to 4,927 in 2012, while organic winegrowing land almost tripled in surface over a four-year period. Leading the pack are 3 French regions: Languedoc-Roussillon, followed by Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, and Aquitaine. On a worldwide scale, France holds second place after Spain and is ahead of Italy.

One in 3 people regularly or occasionally drink organic wine in France according to IPSOS consumer survey; the turnover for 2012 stood at €413 mn (up 15 percent in one year), while export sales to Germany, US, Japan, etc, accounted for 19 percent of organic food exports (€58mn). Organic wine distribution is 36 percent through direct sales, 27 percent through specialised organic distribution, 19 percent through mass retail food stores, and 17 percent through small shops.
