Magners, the original Irish cider, made its foray into the Indian market recently – the fi rst venture of the company in the sub-continent – and was welcomed by a glitzy event hosted by the Ambassador of Ireland, HE Feilim McLaughlin, Anuj Kushwah, Managing Director Kaama Impex, and Sonalika Sahay.
Said McLaughlin, “Magners is made in County Tipperary in Ireland from Irish apples. It is a high-quality product from one of Ireland’s greenest and most idyllic areas and we are proud of its international success. I am sure that it will prove as successful in India as it is at home and across the globe.
”Added Kushwah, “Every decision we take at Kaama is keeping in mind consumer’s needs and experiences, hence the choice of bringing Magners to India. It is a launch of an all-new product category, and an iconic brand.”
Conor Hardy, Commercial Director Asia, C&C Group, said, “C&C Group is proud to announce the launch of its fl agship cider brand Magners into the Indian market. Magners is the number one Irish cider brand globally, and is being exported to over 40 markets. Crafted in Ireland using the fresh juice of 17 varieties of apple, the exceptional taste honours William Magner’s original recipe, perfected since 1935.”
He added, “We believe that the imported drinks category in India is well positioned for success over the coming years as more and more people from India travel abroad and as the middle classes in India continue to grow. As drinkers seek out new and innovative choices we wanted to make Magners Irish Cider available to them, which contains 4.5% alcohol by volume.” Magners will initially be available in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa.
