Oudh 1590 opened this May in the heart of south Kolkata (near Deshapriya Park). The 55- seater restaurant boasts a period look recreating a 16th century feel with bronze plated crockery and cutlery, and period costume for the service team. It has a seating capacity of 48, and serves popular Awadhi dishes.
According to owners, brothers Shiladitya and Debaditya Chaudhury, “It is the first period dining restaurant, that serves authentic Awadhi food from the ‘Land of Awadh’. We wanted to give the people of Kolkata a true experience of Lucknow’s famous cuisine with its endless options of Kakori Kebabs, Galawati Kebabs, Shammi Kebabs, Boti Kebabs and Seekh Kebabs, and foods that are rich with aromatic spices like zafran, cinnamon and cardamom, and generous use of dried fruits and herbs. Bawarchis (cooks) from Lucknow’s famous food hubs have been brought in to prepare authentic dishes. “
