Abhay Gupta quits Blues Clothing

Abhay Gupta, Executive Director, Blues Clothing, has resigned from the company to start his new venture called ‘Luxury Connect’. Working with Blues Clothing since mid 1990s, Gupta introduced many luxury brands such as Versace, Corneliani, Versace Home, Cadini, John Smedley, Damat, Tween and Arredo Classic as master franchisee.

Luxury Connect is a service-based organisation catering to the needs of the luxury segment —luxury training and education, luxury e-commerce, consulting and sourcing.

Apart from Gupta, two other promoters of the company include Rajat Bhattacharya (Co-founder, Chief Sourcing Officer) and Love Ranga (Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer). Bhattacharya has an experience of over 35 years in sourcing and education business. He played a key role in setting-up the Pearl Academy of Fashion’s Bangladesh Campus and operating it for five years. Ranga, an NIFT graduate, specialises in the planning, luxury buying and merchandising, e-commerce and sourcing.

Luxury Connect has tied-up with educational institutes to provide luxury-specific education and training at both executive and student level to source skilled labour for the luxury retail sector. The programmes offered will gradually be introduced to major cities and luxury destinations. The company is collaborating with SDA Bocconi, School of Management, Italy to launch its first Luxury Business Management Program in India by April, 2012.

Gupta holds a degree in Marine Engineering. He has worked with Stencil Apparel Brands and also served as VP Operation at KB+ T(now Givo). After Givo, Gupta joined Blues Clothing as Executive Director both for Lifestyle and Home Division.
