Chief Guest and who’s who at ISP & BMI ’12 – Mumbai

Must Read

On the eve of India’s one-and-only professional beauty and wellness event, India Salon Pro and Beauty Market India, the industry is waiting with bated breath. Being held from January 31 to February 1, 2012 at The Renaissance in Powai, the show promises to be an event of mammoth proportions and is pegged an ideal podium for strategic and lateral thinking, meetings, exclusive seminars, and agreements.

With the who’s who making their presence felt at this much-awaited event, Shahnaz Husain, CEO of Shahnaz Herbals, and a prominent entrepreneur, will flag off the event as the Honorable Chief Guest. A recipient of the Padma Shri in 2006, Husain has been in the business for decades now and has over 400 franchise clinics across 138 nations. She is optimistic about the future prospects of the cosmetics industry and would be talking at length about the growth and future for pioneering the beauty industry in her keynote address during the session. She feels that events like “India Salon Pro and Beauty Market India” are indeed bringing out the best in the industry and are a good platform for discussions and exposition of products. Says she, “One learns about the new developments and growth in the beauty industry, as well as the challenges that lie before us.”

According to Husain, “The beauty business in India is booming and has great growth potential. The herbal beauty business has been driving the growth of the beauty sector. The beauty product business itself is said to be over Rs 3,000 crore and growing at 20 percent, while the herbal beauty business is growing at a faster rate of 40 percent. Spa treatments are also becoming popular, along with beauty and salon treatments. If beauty and personal care products, spa and salon industries are all taken into account, the business is said to be nearly Rs 10,000 crore.”

Husain feels that there is greater emphasis on youthful looks. Therefore, in times ahead, the anti-ageing treatments will be popular. Moreover, spa treatments will not be seen merely as luxury treatments to pamper the body, but rather as a requisite towards de-stressing and total well-being. She sees Indian beauty and wellness sector growing further in the coming years due to a growing interest worldwide in holistic beauty care.

Ushoshi Sengupta, winner of I AM SHE Miss Universe India 2010, apart from Husain, will also be visible at the Beauty Palace exhibitor area. Says Rayed Merchant, Director, Beauty Palace: "As the brand ambassador for our IKONIC brand, which showcases hair dryers and other hairstyling tools, Ushoshi has consented to be at the event."
