Ekmatra, a handspun fabric brand of Sarvoday Ashram, has opened its second store in New Delhi at Lodhi Colony. Spread over 650 sq.ft., the new outlet offers handwoven apparel including fabrics, garments, home furnishings, and accessories.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarvoday Ashram’s Chairman, Manoj Chaturvedi, said: “Ekmatra is an organization-led brand that supports coexistence of people and environment. Inspite of being a new entrant, we have been receiving tremendous response from our customers. Our aim is to open about 25 more stores in 7-8 cities in the next three years. We believe it will generate a turnover of Rs 25-28 crore in the next three years and help Sarvoday Ashram promote eco-friendly, pure, and biodegradable fabric.”

Ekmatra sells ready-to-wear apparel for men and women priced between Rs 1,000 and 6,000. The brand particularly targets the urban customers.

The winter collection of the brand includes a wide range of salwar kameez, long and short kurtis, jackets, and shawls for women. For men, the store has kurtas, shirts, and jackets. Bags, cushion covers, bolster covers, bed covers, bedsheets, curtains, and dohars are also available at the outlet. Display charkhas or spinning wheels are also available in the store along with an instruction manual for those who want to buy it.

Inspired by Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Sarvoday Ashram was founded in 1951. At present, the organization employs around 3,000 spinners and 200 weavers and makes around 100,000 meters of handspun and handwoven fabric every year.
