New Zealand’s kitchen appliances brand Fisher & Paykel enters Indian market

Fisher & Paykel Appliances, a New Zealand high-end kitchen appliances brand, has entered the Indian market. The company has tied up with Shivam Industrial Corporation as its retail distributor for products priced between Rs 20,000 and 200,000.

Speaking on the occasion, Andrew Paykel, CEO, Fisher & Paykel International, said: "We are very optimistic about the response in India as we have been studying the Indian market from the last three years. We will be exploring various retail formats such as shop-in-shop to grow our penetration to the high end consumers as our next set of plans."

Initially, the company is targeting the Northern region of the country—Delhi/NCR, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandar. Sanjeev Wadhwa, Country Manager, India said that the Northern region is being targeted as there the market and customers are open to new foreign brands. He added that gradually, the brand aims to have a pan-India presence.

Jan Henderson, High Commissioner, New Zealand, said: "The prime ministers of both the countries are going to meet next year and there can be mutual Free Trade Agreements between the two countries to allow more brands to enter the Indian market. The deal is in the process."
