Phoenix Marketcity mall has become operational in Bangalore on October 21, 2011. The project started in the end of 2008. Benoy & Associate has designed the mall with several open spaces, including a large outdoor courtyard with F&B options having indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the courtyard.

Developed by Island Star Mall Developers, the mall is spread across a total built up area of 1.4 mn sq.ft. and the gross leasable area is 9,70,000 sq.ft. The nine-screen multiplex is spread across 85,000 sq.ft. area occupied by PVR and the area of the food court is 35,000 sq.ft. There are three entry and exit points. The mall has four floors with 275 stores and two lifts by Hephzi Elevators.

According to S Shashie Kumar, Centre Head, Phoenix Marketcity: “Large malls tend to get a bit complicated in terms of design and can confuse the customer. But at Phoenix Marketcity, Bangalore, the simplicity of the design is definitely a USP. Also, with large atriums and cut outs in the mall from a retailer’s perspective, most stores have easy access and visibility from the levels above and below.”

“The design of the mall has taken into account the traffic and congestion of this city and an internal driveway which has been created to avoid road blocks on the main road,” Kumar added.

The mall is maintained and operated by Market City Resources. The interiors and landscaping are done by Island Star Mall Developers while security is provided by Alert Commandos and lighting by Light @ Work.

Phoenix Marketcity has both covered and open parking spread across 40,000 sq.ft. which is managed by CPS. Eighty-three percent of the mall has already been leased out with a purely rental method of leasing with revenue sharing component. The mall is expected to have an average footfall of over 25,000 on weekdays and over 55,000 on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).

A number of premium brands across various categories have been brought in Phoenix Marketcity namely ZARA, Bebe, Roxy Quiksilver, Promod, Nautica, Steve Madden, Charles & Keith, Timberland, Aldo, Sunglass Hut, Lavie, and Aldo Accessories. For entertainment, there is special kids play zone and Blu O bowling alley.
