Bhilai’s first mall to become operational on Dec 16, 2011

The first mall in Bhilai, Surya Treasure Island, will become operational on December 16, 2011. Developed by EWDPL with an investment of approx Rs 150 crore, the mall already houses brands, including Pantaloons, Reliance Trends, Treasure Showcase as anchors and Max, Reliance Footprint and Reliance Time Out as mini anchors.

The mall has a GLA of 5,46,402 sq.ft., out of which 57,913 sq.ft. will be occupied by hypermarkets, 1,03,131 sq.ft. by anchors and 1,08,947 sq.ft. by vanilla stores. Entertainment area will spread over 16,544 sq.ft., office space over 1,22,980 sq.ft., while 60,750 sq.ft. will be dedicated to commercial space. The food court in the mall is named Buzz Court and occupies 13,541 sq.ft., while the four-screen multiplex by PVR will occupy 31,264 sq.ft.

Manish Dubey, Senior General Manager, EWDPL, says: "Surya Treasure Island, Bhilai is the only mall of Bhilai-Durg region located in the most prominent residential locality with the frontage of 800 ft. approx. The mall is horizontally structured which will provide excellent visibility to all brand partners. It is going to be the shopping, food and entertainment destination of Bhilai-Durg region and the neighboring markets as well. The mall has shaped up very well in all aspects of development, with the stores ready for fit-outs."

EWDPL will look after the maintenance, operations, lighting and landscaping of the mall. Both interior and exterior architectures are taken care by Sanjay Puri Associates, Mumbai, while Janson has provided the lifts and elevators. GDX Security has been chosen to look after the security.

The Surya Treasure Island mall has six floors, including basement and lower ground floor. The parking space is spread across 1,45,000 sq.ft. approx in basement and MLP and can accommodate around 350 four-wheelers and 560 two-wheelers. The mall has 4 entry and exit points and 14 lifts and elevators. The other brands signed by the mall are Spar, Allen Solly, Van Huesen, Titan, UCB, Faces, Woodland, John Player, Liliput among others.
