Must Read

SPAR hypermarkets, a license agreement between Dubai-based Landmark Group’s Max Hypermarkets India and SPAR International, has opened its first hypermarket in National Capital Region in Gurgaon at MGF Metropolis Mall. This is Spar’s 10th hypermarket in the country. Spread across 6,600 m.sq. with 39 checkout points the outlet stocks a range of over 30,000 products. A unique feature of this hypermarket is a newly developed private label apparel section.

Speaking on the occasion, Gordon Campbell, Managing Director, SPAR International, said: “We are also very proud of this achievement as it confirms that our method of working together in joint flagship store projects with our SPAR partners delivers world-class results. The opening of this latest hypermarket, totalling 10 stores spread across several provinces of India, reflects the ongoing developments of the brand in India.”

The hypermarket also offers ‘Every Day Low Price’ policy and ‘Best Deal’ promotions. For easy shopping, the product categories are merchandised in ‘worlds’ i.e children, living, kitchen, apparel, gifting, electronics, fresh produce (including fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, delicatessen and an in-store bakery), speciality food concepts, staples, health and beauty, FMCG food, and wine and beer.

By 2013, SPAR has plans of opening about 30 hypermarkets across India and clock revenues of Rs. 1,700 crore with an investment of Rs. 550 crore.
