Bharti Walmart Pvt Ltd, the cash and carry joint venture between world’s largest retailer Walmart and Bharti Enterprises Ltd, plans to open eight more stores in 2011.
"We are planning to open eight more stores in India this year and hope to open eight more stores in 2012," said Raj Jain, chief executive, Bharti Walmart.
He further said, “We are planning to make our presence felt in the western and southern markets; we will be covering almost 60-70 percent cities in these regions."
Bharti Walmart recently opened a new outlet in Ludhiana. This is its fourth store in Punjab. Besides Punjab, the company has one outlet each in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
