Vadilal plans pan-India expansion

Must Read

Vadilal Industries, one of the leading ice-cream and frozen dessert makers in the country, is planning to expand its presence across India by launching its ‘Happinezz’ ice-cream parlours in various corners of the country. “We are already present in twenty cities in the country. We are planning to expand across India. As of now, we are focussing to expand through ‘Happinezz’ parlours and pushcarts. In Delhi, Happinezz will come up in another one year time,” said Rajesh Gandhi, MD, Vadilal Industries Ltd.

Calling ice-cream a small but lucrative category, Gandhi said, “With power cuts remaining a major challenge in India, we cannot expect retailers and consumers to store ice-creams. That is one of the reasons why the impulse segment, which includes cups, candies and cones, is doing really well.”

Vadilal offers 120-plus flavours in a variety of packs and forms. The range includes cones, candies, bars, ice-lollies, small cups, big cups, family and economy packs.

The company has a strong presence in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh due to an extensive distribution network in these states. However, it does not sell in Maharashtra and southern states of Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh as these markets are catered to by another faction of the family.
