Carrefour names Noël Prioux as executive director for Europe

Lars Olofsson, chief executive officer and board member of Carrefour, has appointed Noël Prioux as executive director for Europe and member of Carrefour’s Executive Board, replacing Vicente Trius. He will be responsible for Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland, Greece, Cyprus and Romania.

Prioux, 51, has spent his entire career with Carrefour, which he joined in 1984. He successively served as executive director – Turkey, director of hypermarkets for France, executive director – Colombia and executive director – South Asia. Since 2008, he was executive director – Spain.

Prioux’s leadership and professional expertise will be put at the service of the implementation of the Group’s strategy in Europe. Among other tasks, he will be entrusted with ensuring the roll-out of the Carrefour Planet concept in the G5 countries outside France.

His appointment will be effective from May 1, 2011.
