The Kroger Co, one of the largest retail food companies in the United States, has recently announced the appointment of Cindy Holmes as director of investor relations and Carin Fike as director and assistant treasurer. Both these changes will be effective March 6, 2011. Fike will report to Kroger’s treasurer, Scott Henderson, while Holmes will report to Kroger’s chief financial officer J Michael Schlotman.

Holmes, 42, began her career with Kroger in 1990 in the information systems and services department, and for the last 10 years has served as the company’s assistant treasurer. In that capacity, she was responsible for managing banking relationships, managing treasury operations including cash forecasting, analysing and selecting borrowing and investment options, negotiating and managing a $2 bn credit facility, and participating in the issuance of long-term debt and derivatives.

Fike, 42, began her career with Kroger in 1999, and has served as the company’s director of investor relations since 2003. She was recently named the best investor relations officer in the grocery and retail drug industry by both the buy side and the sell side in the 2010 Institutional Investor magazine rankings. She began her professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and is a certified public accountant. She is a graduate of Duke University and earned an MBA in finance from Indiana University.

“Both Carin and Cindy have made significant contributions over the years in their respective positions at Kroger, and I look forward to their continued contributions in their new positions within the corporate finance department,” said Schlotman.
