HyperCity to add 2.5 lakh sq.ft of retail space

K Raheja-promoted hypermarket chain HyperCity plans to add 250,000 sq.ft of retail space within the next few months.

In an exclusive interaction with IndiaRetailing, Mark Ashman, CEO, HyperCity, said, “We will open a 70,000 sq.ft store in Ludhiana in March this year, followed by a 65,000 sq.ft outlet in Bangalore by May."

He further said by October this year, HyperCity will open a store in Ahmedabad, covering an area of around 70,000 sq.ft, follwed by one in Pune, spreading across an area of 45,000 sq.ft. "So, in the next few months, we will be operating in a total of around 1.2 mn sq.ft retail space,” the CEO added.

With the aim to have a total of 35-50 stores, HyperCity, Ashman said, will open four to five stores every year for a couple of years.

The hypermarket chain currently operates eight stores – three in Mumbai and one each in Amritsar, Jaipur, Bhopal, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
