Upamanyu Bhattacharya has been appointed CEO of KB’s Fair Price. He joins from Future Supply Chain Solutions, where he was COO and also acted as CEO of Fashion Global Retail.

An alumni of SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Bhattacharya has worked with Hindustan Thompson Associates, Shoppers Stop, Sony Music, Rediff and HUL over the years. He was CEO of TruMart at Piramyd Retail between July 2006 and March 2008.

Future Group is reportedly renewing its focus on KB’s Fair Price, involving an aggressive expansion of store network. Earlier this year, the company told Indiaretailing that about 850 to 900 KB’s Fair Price shops are to open in the current fiscal.

"The model is low-cost and revenues from these stores have been the highest among all the modern trade players in the neighbourhood space. The model is viable and a part of our expansion plans," Damodar Mall, director, food strategy, at Future Group had said at the time.
