Trent Q2 net profit at Rs.12 crore

Trent, a Tata Group company that owns and manages a number of retail chains in India, has reported a net profit of Rs.12 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2010, up 130 per cent from Rs.5.3 crore reported in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

The company’s net sales for the quarter stood at Rs.172 crore against Rs.136 crore reported in the same quarter last year.

During the quarter, Trent opened one Westside store, one Fashion Yatra store and one Sisley store, taking the total number of Westside stores to 47 and the total number of stores under different formats to 56 (Westside, Sisley and Fashion Yatra).

Established in 1998, Trent, a retail operations company, runs lifestyle chain Westside, hypermarket chain Star Bazaar, books and music chain Landmark and complete family fashion store Fashion Yatra.
