German luxury carmaker Audi has set its footprint in Kolkata by launching its first exclusive showroom in the city. Located at AJC Bose Road, the 6,500 sq.ft showroom is Audi’s 14th in India.
“The Kolkata showroom is an important landmark for the brand’s expansion strategy in eastern India. The luxury car market is growing fast in this region and Kolkata is a high priority market for us. We would be glad to sell at least 450 units in West Bengal this year,” says Michael Perschke, country head, Audi India.
With the launch of the Kolkata showroom, the company is eyeing to capture almost 40 per cent of the luxury car market in West Bengal. To market its range of luxury sedans, the company has announced its dealership with Kolkata-based Mohan Motor Distributors Private Limited. “The idea is to have a three-way strategy to boost our Indian sales. We are focussed on increasing the dealer network, introducing product innovation and signing up with strong partners who are trusted in the automotive market,” explains Perschke.
“Mumbai and Delhi account for the majority of the Indian luxury car market, but markets such as Kolkata are also coming up fast. We have a strong position in cities like Chennai and Bangalore while we are also bullish about tier II cities such as Jaipur and Lucknow,” adds Perschke.
