Odyssey opens toy store, Toyopia, at Mantri Square mall

Must Read

After launching Editions, a premium luxury pen store, Odyssey India has opened Toyopia – an exclusive independent toy store – at the Mantri Square mall in Bengaluru. The store is spread over an area of 3,380 sq.ft.

Revolving around the concept of encouraging healthy playing among children, the store offers play tent, racing track, open board games among other things to engage children productively.

Company officials say each zone at Toyopia is colour-coded to help customers recognise the category of toys they are looking for.

T S Ashwin, MD, Odyssey India, says, “The Indian toy market is growing rapidly – at over 15 per cent per annum – and expected to grow at this pace for the next 8-10 years. Playing has been long recognised as a critical aspect of childhood and child development and Toyopia aims to promote this important aspect of a child’s growth. Apart from being a fun way to learn new concepts, it is vital for a child’s overall development.”

Talking about Toyopia’s expansion plans, Ashwin says, “Over the next 2-3 years, we will open close to 10 stores in metros. We may also look at tier II cities after saturating our presence in metros. The stores will mostly be in malls, but we are open to other retail formats and shop-in-shops as and when good options come in.”

David Selvaraj, business head for Toyopia, says, “At Toyopia, we offer unique, safe and good quality toys. Our staff act as play guides for children and assist parents in selecting the right toys for child development.”
