CCD acquires Czech Republic café chain

Café Coffee Day (CCD), part of India’s largest integrated coffee conglomerate, Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Ltd, has announced the acquisition of a Czech Republic café chain – Café Emporio. The deal is valued at Rs 15 crore.

The acquisition represents Café Coffee Day’s intention to increase its international presence, especially in the Central and Eastern European regions.

“We believe large investments in the last 7-8 years in Central and Eastern Europe, together with the birth of a strong new private sector, has had a positive impact on making East European countries attractive emerging economies,” said Swetha Shetty, president, International Business, Café Coffee Day.

Café Emporio has 11 cafés in Czech Republic including seven in Prague and one each in Brno and Olomouc.

Café Emporio cafés will soon be co-branded as ‘Café Coffee Day-Emporio’ and will look towards transitioning to Café Coffee Day over a period of 18 months.
