RPG launches leisure retail format

Music World Retail, the specialty retail arm of Rs 150 billion RPG Enterprises has launched its first 7,000 square feet Mera World outlet in Bengaluru. Further, Music World Retail plans to open 15 more outlets in one and a half year in eight cities. Each 7,000 square feet store would see an investment of Rs 20 million, said a top company official.

“Initially we would be piloting the format in southern cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru and then we will expand nationally. If we are able to make this format work in sluggish times, then we will be able to fly in good times,” said K Dasaratharaman of president, speciality retail of RPG Enterprises.

Mera World will offer books, home décor items, toys, gift items, music and accessories such as perfumer, sunglasses and watches. Besides these, the entertainment and leisure retail outlet will also offer photography accessories and photo printing services. Mera World will compete with similar retail format from Reliance Retail called TimeOut.
