FFI ‘09 to explore food industry’s recipes for success

With just one day to go for India’s biggest food event Food Forum India(FFI), the stage is all set to showcase the pioneers and leaders of the food industry. Themed at ‘Recipes for Success: Live learning from pioneers and leaders’, the second edition of the two-day annual food industry magnum opus from the Images Group will kick off on February 19 at The Renaissance in Mumbai.

The event, which start with the welcome address of conference anchors, Jayant Kochar, MD, Go Fish Retail Solutions and Anish Trivedi, CMD, Banyan Tree Communications, will see the retail titan and founder & CEO of Future Group Kishore Biyani discussing ‘recipes for success: surviving the prevailing downturn’.

While Praveen Someshwar, head of bottling operations, PepsiCo India will discuss ‘macro trends: how they impact our business’, Vinod Sawhny, president & COO, Bharti Retail will explore thoughts on the challenges in farm fresh business.

With Raju Shete, chairman, Radhakrishna Foodland discussing ‘winning strategies for sourcing and supply chain’, Amit Burman, vice chairman, Dabur India will throw lights on ‘feast of opportunities: food retail & catering’. Further, the event will also have Dr Kristian Moeller, MD, GlobalGAP, Germany as international observer.,

Moreover, the annual conclave of National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) will feature Vikram Bakshi, MD, McDonald’s (North & East India) and President, Restaurants Association of India, and Samir Kuckreja, MD, Nirula’s and VP, Restaurants Association of India as anchors.

Under the panel discussion on scope for gourmet food and entry strategy for foreign food brands, the participants include Sumit Saran, SCS Group, Ajaay Gupta, Capital Foods, Sanjey Bajoria, Bajoria Foods, Gayatri Kohli, Food Innovation, Spencer’s Retail, Oliver Mirza, Dr Oetker India, BVK Raju, Q-Mart, Sunil Kumar, Nuts ‘n’ Spices and Ajay Dhar, Needs with Sadashiv Nayak, CEO, Food Bazaar as anchor and Thomas Capune, managing partner, CSP Capune, Schaeben & Partner, Germany as international observer.

In the open conclave, Rahul Akerkar, executive chef & MD, Indigo, AD Singh, director, Olive Bar & Kitchen and Jay Singh, co-founder & ED, JSM Corporation (Hard Rock Café & and Shiro) will discuss ‘how to sustain a restaurant’s brand appeal’. Furthermore, Dheeraj Gupta, Co founder, Jumbo King Vada Pav and Pattabhi Rama Roa, President, Cookie Man India will focus on ‘QSR: How large can be the scale in India’.
