IFA honours top fashion brands; introduces ‘Critics Choice Awards’ category

The 9th edition of two-day fashion extravaganza India Fashion Forum 2009 culminated with a glittering award giving ceremony — Images Fashion Awards (IFA). Kishore Biyani-led Future Group was awarded the most admired fashion group of the year award. Further, IFA introduced a new category ‘Critics Choice Awards’ this time and brands like Triumph, Central, The Loot, Manyavar and Spykar bagged the honour for the first time in different categories.

Presenting the awards, Amitabh Taneja, chief convenor, India Fashion Forum, said, “Speed, emotion and passion makes up for this successful fashion industry and it is with this determination that we look forward to hosting another India Fashion Forum next year.”

For its contribution to the business of fashion, IFA honoured K Raheja Group promoted department store Shoppers Stop as the most admired fashion destination of the year, while Madura Garments’ collective concept was awarded the most admired fashion concept of the year.

Among other majors which bagged the award this year as most admired brands in different categories include Park Avenue (menswear brand), BIBA (womenswear brand), BATA (footwear brand), Levi’s (jeanswear brand), Reebok (active sportswear brand), Lilliput (kidswear brand), Titan Industries Ltd (timewear/ jewellery brand), Portico (home fashion brand), Lerros (brand launch), Pantaloons Retail (private label retailer), Tommy Hilfiger (premium fashion brand), Wills Lifestyle (fashion forward brand), Louis Philippe – Perma Press Shirts (wrinkle-free brand). The brands which bagged Critics Choice Awards for their pioneering efforts include Triumph (category upgradation), Central (retail concept creation), The Loot (retail concept creation), Manyavar (category creation) and Spykar (brand creation).

The awards were conferred on the basis of 2,000 interviews of industry professionals in the business of textiles and fashion and fashion conscious shoppers across seven leading cities in India and a conscious evaluation of the performance of the nominees by an eminent jury comprising of leading industry professionals. The function was held at The Renaissance Hotel and Convention Centre in Mumbai.
