Tata Coffee posts healthy Q3 figures

Tata Coffee, Asia’s leading Coffee Plantation Company has announced its third quarter results ended December 31. The company has posted its profit after tax at Rs 12.22 crore, a growth of four-fold over the corresponding period a year ago. The company had a profit after tax of Rs 3.02 crore in the December quarter last financial year, said the company in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.

While the total income rose to Rs 67.13 crore in the quarter from Rs 73.39 crore last year, the profit after tax for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2008 was registered at Rs 23.73 crore against Rs 7.37 crore a year ago.

Apart from the traditional areas of business like growing of coffee, tea, pepper, cardamom, coffee curing, estate supplies, timber, the company has also ventured into branded coffee through Mr Bean, out-of-home beverages retail through Tata Café Jiffy and Mr Bean Coffee Junction.
