HCL to distribute PocketSurfer2 countrywide

DataWind Ltd, a global major of wireless and web access products and services, has launched its handheld internet device PocketSurfer2 in India. Further, the company has tied up with India’s leading IT products manufacturer and retailer HCL Infosystems Ltd to distribute the products across the country.

Speaking to IndiaRetailing on the product launch, George Paul, executive vice president — marketing, HCL, said, “The product is expected to hit the selves in about seven days. We will be distributing the product through our own exclusive outlets and other multi-brand outlets as well. We are in the process of partnership with various such retailers across India. Beginning with metros, we will make the product available pan-India soon.”

Commenting on expected performance of the product, he said, “We are not focusing on the quantity of products sold. But as the product is new in its category, its a challenge and an excitement as well. We believe it will create a new category of internet users in India.”

Suneet S Tuli, CEO and co-founder, DataWind, said, “For the consumers looking for a mobile internet solution, PocketSurfer2 hits the spot. The device is going to revolutionise the way we work, play communicate and fully leverage the web wirelessly.”

“We position the product as the fastest handheld device for internet usage in the market. Our customers are not merely those who look for gadgets, but who like applications and ease of usage. PocketSurfer2 is priced at Rs 11,999.
