IFF’09: Adidas India MD shares his expectation

Must Read

The retail industry with its employment and tax revenue potential could be the key driver for the Indian economy in the next decade, feels Andreas Gellner, MD, Adidas India.

Sharing his understanding of India’s fashion industry before his participation in the India Fashion Forum 2009 (IFF ‘09) to be held on January 27-28 in Mumbai, Gellner said, “The current challenges we face in the Indian retail environment are attributable to a lesser extent to the global financial crisis rather than home-made problems. It is late, but not too late, for all stakeholders to sit together, address the real issues and discuss the way forward.”

“I wish that during the forthcoming IFF honest and sober assessments are made and real structural changes are initiated” said Gellner.

IFF is the country’s largest intellectual and information exchange for the fashion and retail businesses where leading lights of the fashion and retail industry converge to discuss, display and highlight facets and issues related to the healthy growth of these sectors. The forum, this year, will see over 200 thought leaders and global honchos deliberating on most crucial issues of the business of fashion in India.
