Welspun Group’s chairman GR Goenka, the man who had given a shape to the Group with his immense experience and vision, died on Sunday. Goenka took his last breath amid surrounding of his family members and friend, according to the details of company filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.
The funeral held today at his native place Anjar city in the Kutch district of Gujarat. Goenka spent most of his last years in creating industrial and socio-economic development opportunities in Anjar.
With an enterprise value of USD 3,000 million, Welspun Group is one of the leading Indian business conglomerates with interest in retail. Currently, the company operates 250 Welhome stores under Welspun Retail and has recently launched its mobile retail format Wheel Home in home décor segment. The group is operational in over 50 countries in the world.
