d’Mart sticks its plans to double company own outlets

Home decorative firm Dolphin Mart’s home decor and gifting solutions brand d’Mart Exclusif plans to take the number of its own outlets to 10, up from the existing five. Further the company also plans to expand its franchisee presence with six new stores.

“We have currently five company-owned stores or boutiques besides 13 franchise operated outlets. Our plan is to have a total of 10 company-owned boutiques and 19 franchise stores by March 2009,” said KV Rao, chairman, Dolphin Mart. “The company has just started another boutique in Bengaluru and would be inaugurating two more in Chennai and Hyderabad in January.”

Elaborating further on the franchisee model, Rao said, “While we are looking at the metros and tier I cities for expanding our own boutique presence, our focus is upon the tier II and III cities as far as the franchise outlets are concerned.”

Meanwhile, the company is also looking at venturing into the international market with plans to start franchise business in UK and Dubai.
