Cellucom to open 500 stores in India by 2009

Cellucom, the Dubai-based premier distributor and retailer of mobility products, will open 500 new stores across India by the end of 2009.

These outlets will cover the entire value chain in formats like stand-alone stores in malls and high streets, as well as shop-in-shops within Spencer’s, MusicWorld, Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle and other large-format chain stores.

The future roadmap was revealed in a company press realease while announcing an association with Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming movie Fashion. The company is a co-sponsor and the official mobility solutions partner for the movie.

Cellucom, which has a master-franchisee agreement with USD 3.5 billion RPG Enterprises, currently has 200 stores across 20 Indian cities including the top four metros. The first Cellucom outlet was opened in January 2007 at Sahara Mall, Gurgaon.
