Inditex to join DLF for franchise in India

Must Read

Inditex Group, Europe’s leading fashion retailer, which owns brands such as Zara and Massimo Dutti, is in talks with DLF for a franchise agreement in India.

According to an Inditex executive, the company has been studying the Indian market but so far been hesitant in taking the plunge because of constraints in finding real estate for its operations. Inditex is believed to have already started recruiting people for its India operation.

The company is believed to have reserved space in upcoming DLF malls. The average Zara store size would be 15,000 square feet, while the brand is also expected to open standalone stores of around 5,000 square feet each for men, women and kids.

Besides Zara and Massimo Dutti, Inditex owns brands like Pull and Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Uterque and Kiddy’s Class, and might introduce them in India by 2011.
