More foreign brands from Arvind; Diesel JV may go

Arvinds brands Ltd has lined up ambitious plans for fashion-and-lifestyle connoisseurs in India. Come winter, and the company will introduce some new foreign brands with their latest Fall/Winter collections.

Confirming the news, J Suresh, CEO, Arvind Brands, told Indiaretailing that the company is in talks with various international fashion-and-lifestyle brands, and will soon introduce these in the Indian market with their Fall/Wwinter collections.”

Asked if the Deisel and Arvinds Brands JV is on the verge of break-up, he said, “These are all speculations and I cannot comment on this. Whatever a section of media is reporting is based on industry rumours. Otherwise, we do have major expansion plans of our own.”

Quizzed about the retailing strategy, Suresh said, “We are looking at a viable model; the brands might have flagship stores and will retail through exclusive outlets and even multi-brand outlets.”

Last month, Arvind Brands had announced a new licensing agreement with Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation to design and distribute apparel under its well-known IZOD sport-inspired lifestyle brand. This strategic licensing arrangement provides Arvind with the right to distribute apparel under this iconic American brand both at wholesale and through its own IZOD flagship stores in India.

IZOD, one of the United States’ best-known and best-selling apparel brands, is known for its sport-inspired, clean designs and colourful product lines. With a history in the United States dating back to the 1930s, the IZOD brand is now licensed to 27 companies covering 25 categories of goods in the United States and in 11 international territories. IZOD brand products include apparel and accessories for men, women, and children, soft home goods and a soon-to-be launched men’s fragrance.
