Marico Ltd, which had entered into a distribution alliance with Indo Nissin in 1998, has ended the agreement a year ahead of its slated expiry.

In a statement made to the media, Saugata Gupta, chief executive officer of Marico’s consumer products business, said, “Our size and portfolio of brands have grown smartly over the past few years. The imperative now is to channel our energies into brands from our own stable.”

Marico was marketing and distributing Indo Nissin’s brands, including Top Ramen and Cup Noodles, in India.

Indo Nissin is the Indian unit of Japan’s Nissin Food Products and is keen to set up its own distribution network in the country.
